"Together In Harmony"

Acrylic on Aluminum Composite Panel

By Jocelyn Duchek

My passion for trees and roots can be seen in many of my art works.  I am amazed by the complexity of the roots in the old growth forests of British Columbia.  The moss, trunks and roots are perfect homes for innumerable kinds of animals and insects.  Most trees of the same species are connected to each other through their root systems.  This allows them to exchange nutrients and help other neighboring trees in times of stress.  Forests act and behave much like ant colonies in their interconnections.  We can learn a lot about life when studying the forests.
